SPRING LAKE PARK, Minn. – (Nov. 17, 2016) – An outbreak of racists incidents have been reported nation wide since last week’s presidential election, and now some are happening in Anoka County. Two Anoka County schools have dealt with racially motivated incidents in the last few days.
First, racist graffiti was found on the walls of a bathroom at Spring Lake Park High School.
Then a middle school student at Northdale Middle School in Coon Rapids reported having her hijab ripped off her head and then being thrown to the ground by her hair.
Both incidents are under investigation by local law enforcement and school district officials.
The day after the graffiti was discovered in Spring Lake Park students gathered to write positive messages of unity that were on display for all to see who enter the high school.
