(LINO LAKES) – Lino Lakes Mayor Jeff Reinert carried a strong showing in his hometown precincts to cruise to a primary win in the election for the open Anoka County Board of Commissioners District Six seat Tuesday night. He’ll face off against Cindy Hansen, former mayor of Spring Lake Park, who received enough support in the other district precincts to get the second-most votes.
Hansen placed just ahead of political newcomer Craig Johnson.
The seat has been open since former Commission Chair Rhonda Sivarajah was appointed county administrator earlier this year.
The special election between Reinert and Hansen will be February 11.
The winner will fill the rest of Sivarajah’s term, and then possibly run again for re-election in November.
