ANOKA. Minn. – (Jan. 3, 2017) – For the seventh consecutive year, Commissioner Rhonda Sivarajah was elected chair of the seven-member Anoka County Board at its January 3, 2017 organizational meeting.
Commissioner Scott Schulte was elected vice chair.
Sivarajah has been a member of the county board since 2003. In addition to her duties as board chair, she was named chair of the county’s Airport and Human Services Committees and the Anoka County/Blaine Airport (Janes Field) N.W. Building Area Joint Powers Board. She will serve as vice chair of the county’s Finance and Capital Improvements and Property Records and Taxation Committees and will be a member of the Internal Audit; Transportation; Web Oversight; Benefits and Compensation; and Ag Preservations Credit Ad Hoc Committees.
Sivarajah also was named to the Workforce Development Board and will serve on the Anoka County-Blaine Airport Advisory Commission; Anoka County Housing and Redevelopment Authority; the Anoka County Regional Railroad Authority; the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the Metropolitan Emergency Services Board; Metropolitan Mosquito Control District Board; Children and Family Council Governing Board; Board of Oversight of Court Appointed Attorneys; and the Greater MSP Board of Directors (Minneapolis-Saint Paul Regional Economic Development Partnership).
Sivarajah is a voting delegate and also serves on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the Association of Minnesota Counties. She is the lead commissioner on issues relating to insurance and retirement; elections; reapportionment and voter registration; and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Sivarajah represents District 6 in eastern Anoka County, which includes Centerville, Circle Pines, Columbus, Lexington, Lino Lakes, Linwood Township, and a portion of Blaine.
