PRINCETON, Minn. – Ruff Start Rescue has free craft kits available for kids to assemble and return for the animals in their care.
“The four different kits that we do offer are very simple,” Ruff Start Rescue employee, Sammie Bistodeau said. “The steps are, like, four different steps to be able to do it.”
Both the dog and cat toy kits provide all the supplies.
The project began in September, and is already seeing hundreds of people get involved.
“We’ve had over 200 kids put the kits together so far,” Sammie added when explaining all the groups that have participated in this project, including daycares and girl scout groups.
These kits are more than just making toys. Ruff Start hopes that it is also able to help create interest in helping animals for the younger generation.
Part of Ruff Start Rescue’s mission is to educate the next generation of pet owners and animals rescuers.
“We know that we can do the work to adopt out the animals,” Sammie explained, “but we know the most important thing is educating the next generation because they’re the ones that are really going to make the difference.”
The craft kits are available for pick up or they can be requested by emailing education@ruffstartrescue.org.
