SANTA PARADE BACK ON

UPDATE | DEC. 8

Statement from SBM Fire
“We want to apologize to all the Blaine residents that were expecting the Santa Parade to roll through their neighborhood last night. As we worked to make sure we had all the proper public health and safety procedures in place we realized yesterday afternoon that we needed more time to plan this event. So we made the decision to postpone last night’s parade.
There were no last minute restrictions placed on the event and we should have communicated the postponement earlier in the day.
We always build in an alternate date to the parade schedule in case we need to respond to a fire, have bad weather, or have another emergency. So last night’s scheduled route through west Blaine is rescheduled for Friday, December 11.
The safety protocols are in place and we are ready to roll tonight.
Santa Parade COVID-19 Precautions
• No viewing stations will be setup this year.
• Place food donations at the end of your driveway or on the curb.
• When the fire truck comes through your neighborhood make sure to stay back as Santa’s helpers get out to collect the donations.
• Wear a face mask and maintain physical distancing while watching the parade.
• Do not gather with others from outside your household to watch the parade.
• Please do not hand items or donations directly to SBMFD parade participants.
Thank you for following all the COVID-19 guidelines as it is important to keep our first responders and Santa healthy and safe this holiday season.
Here is the new Santa Parade schedule
Tuesday, December 8 – East Blaine
Wednesday, December 9 – TPC/The Lakes
Thursday, December 10 – SLP/MV
Friday, December 11 – West Blaine”

UPDATE: The parade has been cancelled.

On December 7, the SBM Fire Department put out the following statement.
“In the interest of public safety, we have had to make the difficult decision to postpone tonight’s event indefinitely.
Please continue to monitor our social media as this is a fluid situation and we will update as we know further information.
We deeply regret any inconvenience this caused.
SBM Fire Department”

BLAINE – (Dec. 3, 2020) – Despite all the challenges of a pandemic, the SBM Fire Department’s Santa Parade is coming to town. The parade is scheduled to wind through different neighborhoods Monday through Thursday evenings, starting December 7th through the 10th.

It’s an annual event to collect food for local food shelves.  Fire Chief Charles Smith says they normally collect 30,000 pounds of food during the four night event.  But this year the need is greater than ever.

Some adjustments are planned to keep people safely distanced.  The fire department asks residents to leave boxed or bagged food donations at the end of their driveway along the parade route.  Fire department runners will pick it up.  Also this year, candy canes will not be given out, and there will be no parade viewing area.  If you come out to watch, Smith reminds residents to keep distanced and wear a face covering.

You can see the schedule and the routes that will be taken on the SBM Fire Department’s website: www.sbmfire.org.
