BLAINE – (Dec. 3, 2020) – Despite all the challenges of a pandemic, the SBM Fire Department’s Santa Parade is coming to town. The parade is scheduled to wind through different neighborhoods Monday through Thursday evenings, starting December 7th through the 10th.
It’s an annual event to collect food for local food shelves. Fire Chief Charles Smith says they normally collect 30,000 pounds of food during the four night event. But this year the need is greater than ever.
Some adjustments are planned to keep people safely distanced. The fire department asks residents to leave boxed or bagged food donations at the end of their driveway along the parade route. Fire department runners will pick it up. Also this year, candy canes will not be given out, and there will be no parade viewing area. If you come out to watch, Smith reminds residents to keep distanced and wear a face covering.
You can see the schedule and the routes that will be taken on the SBM Fire Department’s website: www.sbmfire.org.
