BLAINE, Minn. – (Mar. 10, 2016) – With long time fire chief Nyle Zikmund retiring this spring the Spring Lake Park-Blaine-Mounds View Fire Department has selected its next leader.
Charles V. Smith VI was chosen out of a group of 12 applicants. Pending completion of a background check Smith will join the department in early April. Smith was most recently the assistant fire chief in Lakeville.
Previously, Smith spent 17 years with the Duluth Fire Department. Chief Zikmund will remain with the department until the end of April allowing for a transition period.
