BLAINE – (March 18, 2021) – A Blaine woman needs help to find a stolen van that was specially modified for her daughter’s wheelchair. Blaine police said someone stole the 2007 maroon Toyota Sierra van from an underground parking garage earlier this month. The van was specially outfitted with a wheelchair ramp. Owner Melissa Moos wonders why anybody would take a van that meant so much to her and her daughter.
“We got the van specifically for Cicely,” said Moos. “When she’s out of the house, she’s in a wheelchair so the van was a modified wheelchair van. It had a ramp on the side so I just had to roll her chair into the van and she could just stay in her wheelchair instead of having to take her out all the time to transport her.”
Moos says it was a much easier way to take her daughter to therapy. Also lost was a special medical car seat that was in the van.
Police say it was taken from a garage in the 12600 block of Central Avenue sometime between the hours of 4:30 pm on March 10 and 8:00 am on March 11. The missing van has Minnesota license plates: BGN-002. A Go Fund Me account has been set up for expenses not covered by insurance.
