(LINO LAKES) – The sister of a man arrested for murder in Lino Lakes last month has now been charged in the same crime.
According to the Anoka County Attorney’s Office, 47-year-old Melissa Zielinski s charged with one count of aiding and abetting second-degree intentional murder.
It happened August 27 at a home on West Shadow Lake Drive in Lino Lakes. The owner of the home saw a man and a woman leaving out the front door and found his son mortally wounded in the basement of the home. Despite life-saving efforts by medics and officers, the man died on the scene.Officers arrested 43-year-old Nicholas Zielinski in connection with the crime. He is booked into the Anoka County Jail on a charge of 2nd degree murder.The victim was 22-year-old Karl Henderson of Lino Lakes.
Officers said they found a handgun at the scene near Henderson’s body that had DNA that matched Zielinski’s, and he and his sister, Melissa, were seen leaving the scene in a black SUV registered in her name.
According to incident reports, the motive behind the shooting appears to have been related to money the Zielinskis said Henderson owed them.
