FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. – (Aug. 18, 2016) – The Minnesota State Fair’s comprehensive security program will be expanded for 2016 to include bag checks at all entry gates. Bags, purses, coolers and packages will be subject to search at each of the State Fair’s 11 entrances during the upcoming fair. The State Fair has also adjusted safety procedures in several other areas including security staffing levels, vehicle access, traffic management and video.
The fair will add about 100 security screeners who will be stationed at the entrance gates. There will also be an express line available for guest who do not have any items that need to be searched. The State Fair’s security plan is developed in conjunction with local, state and federal public safety agencies.
