ANOKA, Minn. – (Jan. 7, 2016) –Â Republican State Senator Branden Petersen resigned his Senate seat last year and three individuals are trying to replace him.
Democrat Roger Johnson will not see a primary challenger.
On the Republican side Andy Aplikowski received the party endorsement but he is being challenged in the primary by former Republican State Representative Jim Abeler. The special primary election will be held on Jan. 12.
The winner of the republican primary will move onto face Johnson in the special election on Feb. 9. Senate District 35 includes Anoka, Ramsey, Andover and parts of Coon Rapids.
