BLAINE, Minn. – It was windy cold day, and the snow was still covering the ground, but that did not stop an ambitious group of local leaders from holding a ground breaking for the area’s newest development.
“There will be approximately 60 apartments,” said Ross Huttunen, Regional Vice President of Edgewood Management Group, “What sets us apart from other senior living communities are our amenities, things like a chapel, theater, library and a pub.”
The $7 million development will be located at the corner of Main Street and Cloud Drive, right next to the Northpoint Elementary School in Blaine. City officials have been trying to bring in more senior housing for several years; with Edgewood they finally found a company that shared that desire.
“We bring our mission, vision, and core values to providing the best senior care experience we can,” mentioned Huttunen.
The development will consist of 34 assisted living units and 25 memory care units. The developement will include many upscale amenities including: a senior clinic, movie theatre, pub, chapel, salon, library, restaurant-style fine dining, fitness center, two outdoor courtyards with walking paths and outdoor fire pits. Construction on the site is expected to begin by the middle of March and Edgewood has plans for a grand opening on November 1.
