BLAINE, Minn. – (April 28, 2016) – This week seniors from the community gathered for the 15th annual Senior Safety and Wellness Fair. “We’re just trying to get out some really good information to seniors in the community,” said Director of the Mary Ann Young Senior Center Shelly Johnson. The day-long event included six different speakers and 11 vendors. Many seniors attend this event every year and the organizers look for new ways to expand the knowledge base of those who keep coming back.
Topics covered this year included scam and fraud protection, elder abuse, financial protection, and fall prevention.
“Hopefully they learn something new and that they can put into place in their lives something about their personal history and building on that whether it’s taking better care of themselves or maybe they’ve found a new connection or contact from visiting the vendors here,” said Johnson.
The Senior Safety and Wellness Fair is a joint venture between the cities of Blaine, Spring Lake Park and Mounds View.
