ANOKA COUNTY, Minn. – Washington’s sequester will have other effects on Minnesota this year. According to the White House, our state will see impacts across the board this year. About 700 children will loose access to early education through Head Start, law enforcement agencies will loose more than $200,000 in Justice Assistance Grants, and schools will loose $7 million of funding.
Other cuts will come to domestic violence services, public health, child care, job search assistance, work-study jobs, protections for clean air and water, military readiness, and senior nutrition assistance.
Right now, it appears that these cuts will remain in place until at least October 1st, when the next fiscal year begins.
