ANDOVER, Minn. – The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office is saddened by the devastation in Moore, Oklahoma brought on by the EF-4 tornado that touched down on May 20. On May 21 the National Sheriff’s Association sent out a nationwide notice that multiple employees of Oklahoma County, including some Deputies, either sustained serious damage to their homes or lost their homes completely.
The Anoka County Sheriff’s office will be collecting donations on behalf of all the local law enforcement agencies in Anoka County for these families. They recognize that these Oklahoma County deputies and other county employees are a small fraction of the people affected but have chosen to focus their efforts here to help their fellow deputies and county employees. The funds will be collected and then be sent to Oklahoma to be deposited into a 501(c)3 fund that has already been established by Oklahoma County to benefit the employees who lost everything in this storm.
“The county employees who have lost everything do not have the ability to properly mourn or deal with their losses. Instead, they have stayed true to their calling and continue to help and serve others who are in need in their community. This is one way in which we can give back and support our partners who continue to serve, even when their world has been turned upside down,” said Sheriff James Stuart.
Donations can be dropped off at:
Anoka Sheriff’s Office
13301 Hanson Blvd NW
Andover, MN 55304
or at the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office Court Security office located on the second floor of the Anoka County Courthouse.
