HAM LAKE, Minn. – (Dec. 14, 2017) – An Elk River man was left in critical condition after a shooting in Ham Lake this week. Police received a call about a man with a gunshot wound at the Super America store on Highway 65 and Constance Boulevard.
The initial report was that the gunshot wound was the result of a road rage incident. Deputies and detectives from the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office quickly determined that the road rage story had been fabricated. Authorities continue to investigate the real cause of the shooting.
The name of the shooting victim has not been released and at last report he underwent emergency surgery at Mercy Hospital. He is now in stable condition.
The other three occupants of the car were interviewed and arrested, but have not yet been charged with a crime. The preliminary investigation will be reviewed by the Anoka County Attorney’s Office who will decide if and what criminal charges are appropriate.
