(SPRING LAKE PARK) – Just weeks ahead of what was supposed to be their high school graduation, Spring Lake Park High School seniors received a gift from the community to show solidarity and to try to honor them in a difficult time.
The Panther Foundation, the district’s fundraising arm, paid for approximately 400 yard signs and high school staff and faculty helped distribute them to each senior’s home this week.
The foundation doesn’t normally do this, said Executive Director Colleen Pederson, but since the last few months and the graduation have been cancelled because of COVID-19, she said the community wanted to show its support.
“It’s not a basic need, though for our seniors, whose senior year has changed dramatically, it’s certainly an impact to those students in our community to say ‘We’re Panther Strong!” Pederson said.
