BLAINE, Minn. – A common saying proclaims that March “comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb.” The saying certainly proved true this week, with nine inches of snow settling on the metro area. The Anoka-Hennepin, Centennial, and Spring Lake Park School Districts all closed on the same day—an event that has not occurred at any point within the last six years.
The Anoka-Hennepin district has only closed three times in the last ten years, one of which was due to wind chill. All of the aforementioned closings happened in either the last week of February or first week in March. The Spring Lake Park School District notes that they have not closed for any reason since 2007, and prior to that had one late start occurring in 2001 or 2002.
Now all school districts are hoping the adage holds true, and March really does go out like a lamb.
