BLAINE, Minn. – The City of Blaine would like to remind their residents of a few important safety concerns involving the heavy snow:
- Remember to clear the snow from around the fire hydrants near your home. This will save a lot of time if the fire department needs to get the hydrant in an emergency.
- Don’t let your children build snow-forts or make tunnels in the snow banks at the end of your driveway or along the road. Snowplows may come by from time to time to knock the snow back, and the plow drivers have no way of knowing that there may be children playing in the snow banks.
- Be careful not to put your garbage can and recycling cart in the street. As the snow banks build, it may be harder to find a spot to put them, but placing them in a position where they could be hit by snowplows runs the risk of damaging the garbage can, slowing down the plows, and creating a lot of unnecessary litter in the spring.
