BLAINE, Minn. – (Dec. 7, 2017) – This week’s snowfall brought snowplowing back into conversation. Road conditions were difficult on Tuesday morning as crews battled snow and ice packed onto the roadways.
The City of Blaine wants to clearly communicate with residents about plowing this season, and they have an interactive map on their website showing all of the roadways in the city.
There are 247 miles of streets, 95 miles of sidewalks and 60 miles of trails that are plowed and maintained by Blaine Public Works.
Anoka County plows 43 miles of road in Blaine, and MnDOT takes care of I-35W, Highway 10, Highway 65 and Highway 47.
There are also 48 miles of private roads in Blaine that are the responsibility of the property owner.
If you are having a problem with plowing on a specific road, you can check out the map and learn who is responsible for that road and make a direct report to that organization.
During snow removal, residents are responsible for their own driveways and private sidewalks. Residents should also clear areas for trash cans, mailboxes and any fire hydrants that are on their property.
