(SPRING LAKE PARK) – Two years after its exterior–including bright, illuminated signage–were completed, the Hy-Vee in Spring Lake Park is finally ready to open.
The company confirmed to North Metro TV News that the store will open at 6:00 a.m. on May 25.
The 81,000-square-foot store employs nearly 500 people (95 of them full-time) and will feature more than 60,000 items. Among those are 3,600 specialty items and 700 fresh produce items, according to a company spokesperson.
The long-awaited store faced multiple delays in opening that city officials continued to attribute to the company’s desires to re-design the interior layout. It mirrors Hy-Vee’s continued lack of commitment to a construction date for its planned Blaine location on Main Street near the high school, after a company representative would not give a firm answer to city leaders’ requests for a timeline last month.
