SPRING LAKE PARK, Minn. – (Sept. 20, 2018) – At the start of the school year, Spring Lake Park Schools implemented the Raptor Visitor Management system, which checks each visitor’s name and date of birth for comparison with a national database of registered sex offenders.
The Raptor system provides a way to screen all visitors and to keep a record of who is in the building. Upon entering a district building, visitors will be asked to present an ID such as a driver’s license or government-issued ID. Each ID will be scanned through the official registered sex offender database.
The registered sex offender database is the only official database checked by the Raptor system. No other data from the ID is gathered or recorded, and the information is not shared with any outside agency.
If entry to the school is approved, the Raptor system will generate a badge that identifies the visitor, the date, and the purpose of the visit. A visitor’s badge will not be necessary for those who visit schools to simply drop off or pick up something in the main office
