SPRING LAKE PARK, Minn. – (Aug. 30, 2018) – Spring Lake Park Schools recently announced a new partnership that will address a growing concern related to the limited access families have to mental health support across our state and nation.
SLP Schools will be partnering with the local organization, Lee Carlson Center for Mental Health and Well Being, to increase access for students and families to high quality mental health services. School-based mental health services will be available to students within each of the district’s schools.
Through this partnership, the Lee Carlson Center will provide four mental health therapists who will provide counseling services. In addition, the therapists will also provide professional learning for district teachers and staff on mental health.
The school-based mental health services are provided through a grant received by Lee Carlson Center from the Minnesota Department of Human Services. There is no cost to the district for providing these services to students. Parents and school staff will have the opportunity to refer students for services, and parent permission will be necessary prior to any services being provided to a student.
In addition to SLP, Lee Carlson Center also provides services in the Fridley, Columbia Heights, Centennial, St. Francis, Osseo and the St. Anthony-New Brighton Districts.
