ST. PAUL, Minn. – This week marked the return to work for state lawmakers. The 88th session of the Minnesota State Legislature was called to order and the majority was officially transferred back to the DFL.
In November, Democrats won control of both the State House and Senate, giving DFL Governor Mark Dayton the ability to pass legislation that he campaigned on in 2010. Dayton will be up for re-election in 2014.
The state budget is expected to be the biggest issue facing the legislature this year, but debates on gun control and gay marriage are also expected in St. Paul.
