BLAINE, Minn. – (Jan. 25, 2018) – The Super Bowl is bringing a lot of tourists to the Twin Cities. With upwards of 150,000 out-of-state tourists expected in town for Super Bowl weekend, an uptick in plane traffic will be noticeable. This includes the areas reliever airports including the Anoka County-Blaine Airport.
The busiest day is expected to be Super Bowl Sunday itself, Feb. 4. The Metropolitan Airports Commission estimates during peak morning hours on Feb. 4 the reliever airports will see 30 landings per hour. Many corporate jets will be leaving the Blaine airport directly after the game meaning another peak time starting around 10 p.m.
The increased air traffic is expected to begin on Jan. 31 and continue until Feb. 6.
