MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – (April 7, 2016) – When Target Field opened in 2010 most fans were just excited to get inside. Now as the Twins prepare to kick off season number seven at the ballpark one way the team is keeping the experience fresh is by adding new and exciting food offerings each year. In what has become an anticipated annual event the media and a select group of season ticket holders were offered a preview of what the team has cooked up for 2016.
The team is reintroduced some items from previous years, expanded relationships with some vendors and added a number of completely new items.
“Andrew Zimmern’s Korean fried chicken sandwich very much picked up some popularity last year but we want to make sure we give it the attention it’s due. It’s a very good sandwich that’s perfect for baseball season. Barrio’s new offering coming into Senor Smoke’s. With Barrio we have two burrito options either is a bowl or wrap form. We have a barbacoa and a vegetarian option available.
At Loon Cafe we introduced a new cart this year with partnership with the Loon expanding on what we’ve already done with the Loon cafe. Instead of that bowl of chili like we had in the past that you could get out of the Halsey’s Sausage Haus concession stands we’re really creating an experience that you’d get if you went to the Loon Cafe so you’re getting it topped off with the sour cream and the shredded cheddar cheese and the green onion. It’s got the fresh grilled Texas toast along side of it.
The new relationship with Pizza Luce offering a variety of their pizzas including vegan and gluten free options. The expansion of our relationship with Red Cow we’re doing more of the full sized burger experience with their ultimate burger, blues burger with the apricot jam and the fresh blue cheese as well as the world recognized turkey burger that we’re happy to offer. Then they have brisket poutine which is absolutely to die for,” said Delaware North Sportservice general manager Pete Spike.
Minnie and Paul’s will certainly be a hot spot at the ballpark this summer – basically the back patio of Target Field. “All fans will have this Minnie and Paul’s piece, it’s right in center field, it’s a brand new construction project with construction of a full service bar… an expanded a patio and drink rail that will overlook center field. We upgraded the concession offerings in this space from a traditional ball park fair piece originally to now bringing in Pizza Luce as a brand new partner and expanding our relationship with Red Cow for gourmet burger experience,” said Spike.
The ballpark classics will always be available but Target Field aims to offer a food lineup that resembles the diversity of the fan base. “A lot of great diversity you’re going to see at Target Field this year. Year seven and all we are still trying to grow our menu and trying to be better and better every year,” said Spike.
