BLAINE, Minn. – The Taste of Blaine is an annual fundraiser for Free 2 Be! an organization that works to meet the transportation needs of individuals in Anoka County. The Taste of Blaine is the organizations largest fundraiser of the year and with the need for service constantly rising it has become crucial to their mission.
“There’s a lot of people that can’t get to work and we want to help them,” said Gary Levine, Free 2 Be! Executive Director, “The need is greater than ever.”
This year will be the 8th annual Taste of Blaine and the event is held at the National Sports Center. Although, this year they will be moving the event into the new sports expo center at the NSC allowing the entire event to take place in one space instead of spread out into multiple rooms. Each year at the event Free 2 Be! does what they do best change the life of a local family. This year an individual who bikes everyday to work will receive a car to help support their family. “We’re pretty exited about that,” commented Levine.
The Taste of Blaine will again feature over 30 local restaurants featuring some of their best foods. As Gary says it is an exciting night but it is so successful because of its deeper meaning.
“It’s great for the county and it helps people, that’s what we’re trying to do,” said Levine.
Nearly 1,000 people are expected to attend the Taste of Blaine and you can learn more about this year’s event at http://freetobeinc.org.
