LINO LAKES, Minn – (July 27, 2017) – In a year where elections aren’t front and center across the nation there are still races to keep an eye on at the local level.
Lino Lakes City Clerk Julie Bartell said “Lino Lakes and Circle Pines in Anoka County are the two cities that have omnibus poll elections this year.”
In Lino Lakes more than half the city council is up for election. The city along with Circle Pines needs to fill three positions this election season, which are the mayor and two city council members.
To be eligible to file for office in Lino Lakes you have to be at least 21-years-old on the day you would take office and reside in the city for at least 30 days before the general election. Also, you must be eligible to vote, fill out all the paperwork and pay the $5 dollar filing fee.
Bartell said the filing period for local offices will start on August 1 and end on August 15. Prospective candidates must file within that time at city hall between 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday – Friday. The hours will be extended to 5 p.m. on the final filing day.
The Anoka-Hennepin School District will also be electing three board members, and the Spring Lake Park School District will be electing four board members.
