SPRING LAKE PARK, Minn. – (April 3, 2020) – Businesses across the nation are struggling, as many states have issued shelter in place or stay at home orders, leading restaurants to figure out if they want to shut their doors or change their business model. Another industry seeing big changes right now is the brewing industry. Local taprooms are used to selling their beer in the taproom by the pint, but that is no longer an option. Torg Brewing in Spring Lake Park is one of many to make changes.
“We’ve switched to takeout and curbside, and we offer free delivery here in the neighborhood surrounding us,” said Deborah Torgersen, owner and head brewer at Torg Brewing.
Torgersen knows that her business is not alone in the struggles, and nearly everyone in hospitality is seeing the same issues. She says that supporting small businesses right now is more important than ever.
“This is really a struggle for a lot of businesses. It’s a total change in their format, a lot of lost revenue. And these are community fixtures, people in the community work for them. So getting out and supporting these businesses right now is really vital so that when this passes we’ll all be up and running again,” said Torgersen.
