SPRING LAKE PARK, Minn. – (May 28th, 2015) – With Memorial Day in the rear view mirror, summer city festivals are on the horizon starting with Spring Lake Park Tower Days. It starts on Thursday, June 4 with the annual evening parade. Then the festival really kicks into high gear on Sunday, June 7.
An all day celebration will be held at Lakeside Lions Park. Events include lumberjack shows, a classic car show, a pie eating contest, inflatable games, live music, and more. The day will conclude with a show in the sky.
“Fireworks will be Sunday evening after the big city festival on Sunday at Lakeside Lions Park and typically fireworks are right around 9:45 p.m. or 10 p.m. right at dusk,” said recreation program supervisor John Angell.
The all day event at Lakeside Lions Park can bring in as many as 4,000 people if the weather is nice. The focus of the event is providing enough variety for everyone to have a good time.
“It’s very family oriented so it’s got a lot of variety. We have everything from lumberjack shows to the classic car show that goes on Sunday as well. We have softball tournaments, live entertainment, and a variety of food vendors,” said Angell.
Communities put a lot of work into a city festival and Tower Days is no exception.
Angell sees it as a great way to bring the community together and provide a boost to the people of Spring Lake Park. “It really gives the opportunity for the community to come together, for families to come out and enjoy just a fun day of affordable activities. It helps generate more revenue even economically within the city here too for bringing in people from outside the community who come for the softball tournament or there’s people coming for the car show. They have a lot of outsiders coming in too and getting an opportunity to see what Spring Lake Park is about and also help generate more revenue for the local businesses here in town,” said Angell
