ANOKA COUNTY, Minn. – Next week, residents of Anoka County will get an opportunity to offer their opinions on construction plans for University Avenue. The estimated $10.5 million project will reconstruct University Avenue from 109th Avenue to 125th Avenue.
Anoka County plans to expand the two-lane road to four and improve existing intersections. A new pedestrian and bicycle trail is also planned for the west side of University Avenue in Coon Rapids. The bridge that extends across Sand Creek will be getting a makeover as well.
So far the county has received a $6.4 million federal grant to help pay for the project. Community members are encouraged to attend the informational meeting, which will take place at the Coon Rapids City Center on February 12th from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. County officials will bring property owners up to speed about recent changes made to the project. Current plans will be available for the public review at the open house.
