Some streets in the area will soon get upgrades thanks to Lino’s annual mill and overlay program to fix roads.
“The project cost for the year is $1.2 million,” said Lino Lakes’ City Engineer Diane Hankee. “We are doing approximately 1.7 miles of road.”
According to Hankee, Country Lakes is one of a few spots getting upgrades in 2026.
“We’re also finishing up a neighborhood with Lonesome Pine Trail and Weir Road north of Birch Street between Hodgson and Birch Street,” Hankee said. “Then also Fourth Avenue between Lilac and Apollo over by the prison and then a couple cul de sacs over on the very west end of town, just south of Apollo – Heather Court and Lea Court.”
Smoother streets
Mill and overlay projects are common in Lino Lakes.
“It’s our annual road program,” Hankee said. ” Every year we pull roads off of our capital improvement plan that is prepared based on an annual road rating review that we do.”
Some of these streets are showing wear and tear which is caused by frequent use and the Twin Cities extreme weather conditions.
Potholes and cracks will be filled in and smoothed out when work starts in late spring and finishes in the summer.
Money for the project will come from Lino’s annual general fund budget. The mill and overlay project will not have any impact on neighborhood yards.
