BLAINE, Minn. – (Oct. 19, 2017) – Anoka County Library is holding an antiques and collectibles appraisal event, featuring author and antique expert Mark F. Moran, on Sunday, Oct. 29, from 1-4:30 p.m. at the Northtown Library, 711 County Road 10 NE in Blaine.
Categories of objects for appraisal may include:
Fine art: paintings, drawings, prints, and statuary
Furniture: smaller pieces are best
Ceramics: figural pottery, vases, dishes, kitchenware, and stoneware
Glassware: lighting, marbles, and souvenir items
Vintage photographs: snapshots, tintypes, ambrotypes, and daguerreotypes
Advertising: posters, lithographed tin, paper, and figural objects
Folk art: carvings, quilts, weathervanes, windmill weights, and “outsider” art
Assorted toys: dolls (bisque, composition, and plastic), windups, and mechanical banks
Metal ware: iron, bronze, brass, pot metal, silver, and silver plate
Clocks: mantel, hanging, and figural
Costume jewelry: brooches, bracelets, and earrings
Musical Instruments: string, wind, and reed instruments.

Excluded items: all weapons, including swords and knives (though folding knives with advertising are accepted); traps (such as leg-hold); Nazi memorabilia; coins and paper money; fine jewelry, including precious gems; and Beanie Babies.
Moran is formerly the senior editor of Antiques and Collectibles books and a previous contributing editor for Antique Trader magazine. He has served as editor of Antique Review East magazine, and as editorial director of F+W Media’s Antiques Group. Moran is the author or co-author of more than 25 books on antiques and collectibles, including three editions of the 800-page annual Warman’s Antiques & Collectibles. He has bought and sold antiques for more than 30 years, specializing in vintage folk art, Americana, and fine art.
