ST. PAUL, Minn. – (Sept. 24, 2015) – A report from Minnesota’s Department of Natural Resources has found in a recent study that there has been an increase in the number of people buying permits and staying overnight in state parks. Year round permit sales are up by 12 percent as compared to last year, overnight stays have increased by 9 percent and one-day permits are up 24 percent.
Due to the increased usage of these parks as well as the Legacy fund, there are many modern updates underway for Minnesota recreational facilities and park. Updates include Wi-Fi, GPS units, Touch-screen kiosks, and virtual tours. The DNR hopes these advancements will appeal more to upcoming generations with the goal of continuing to increase the number of people enjoying the beautiful landscape of Minnesota.
