BLAINE, Minn. – (March, 17, 2016) – Youth intervention programs across the state got a big boost last week when Wells Fargo announced a new partnership with the Youth Intervention Programs Association. “Wells Fargo has our vision and values which states we want to be a culture of caring and be an active community member,” said Wells Fargo representative Julie Schommer.
The partnership includes a $10,000 commitment by Wells Fargo. In addition Wells Fargo will partner with the hundreds of youth intervention programs in Minnesota to provide education opportunities to youth and their families. “We realize through financial literacy through our programs, our hands on banking that Wells Fargo sponsors, that we can see and get our youth, even their families really the education that they need from a financial standpoint,” said Schommer. Wells Fargo also pays their employees to take a couple of days each year as volunteer days in their local community.
Giving YIPA an army of new volunteers. Youth intervention programs work to implement a proactive strategy to solve long term problems. “We have some many adults that are demanding services because of these chronic problems that they have. We need to get the front end and help these young people so that they are productive members of society. We have choice, they can either be consumers of producers and I haven’t found anybody yet that’d rather have people be consumers rather than contributors to communities,” said YIPA executive director Paul Meunier.
