BLAINE, Minn. (Oct. 31, 2013) — Police in Cannon Falls had 35-year-old Shawna M. Pearson in custody just hours after she allegedly held up the TCF Bank in Blaine the afternoon of Oct. 23. She was released several hours later.
According to police reports, Pearson’s neighbors say she claimed she had to get out of town and left quickly the day of the robbery. Five hours later and 56 miles south of the bank, Pearson and a companion were driving in Cannon Falls when the van they were driving got stuck in a ravine.
The tow truck operator suspected that the driver, a 46-year-old St. Paul man, had been drinking and notified police. Both Pearson and the driver were intoxicated. The van was impounded and the two were taken to a detox facility, but were released before Cannon Falls police were aware that Pearson was wanted in Blaine. Both Pearson and her companion remain on the run.
Her extensive criminal history in the state of Minnesota includes convictions for theft, 5th degree assault, domestic assault, trespassing, disorderly conduct, and property damage.
The Blaine Police Department recently released a photograph that provides a clear look at Pearson’s face, taken from surveillance video the day of the TCF Robbery. Law enforcement in Cannon Falls were able to match the image with Pearson’s mugshot. Police are currently looking for any information that leads to her arrest.
