BLAINE, Minn. – (Sept. 7, 2018) – A Coon Rapids woman has been charged with burglary and theft after she allegedly stole sixty-one wedding dresses from a storage locker she managed in Blaine. According to the criminal complaint, the owner of a bridal boutique reported dozens of dresses missing from her secure storage unit last March.
Jacqueline Bednarczyk managed the Acorn Storage in Blaine at the time, but she denied any knowledge of the dresses. Earlier this year, the bridal shop owner discovered the dresses were for sale on Craigslist. She met with the seller, who was arrested and had to spend time in jail, until evidence revealed that he had actually purchased the dresses for $750 from Bednarczyk at a garage sale. He did not know they were stolen.
She eventually admitted that she stole the dresses and sold them to the man. The dresses were valued a little over $3,500. If Bednarczyk is convicted of both felony counts, she could face up to ten years in prison.
