When 95-year-old Albert Loehlein was brutally murdered in his Anoka home in Nov. of 2016, it was a crime that shook the community. This, week Loehlein’s killer entered a guilty plea in Anoka County District Court.

The Lino Lakes Public Safety Department organized a charity hockey game pitting local firefighters against local police officers and this week, the teams took the ice at the Schwan’s Super Rink as a large crowd cheered them on.

LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL OPENS DORM

A high school in Spring Lake Park is getting ready to expand. Life Prep Academy is a small private school that will provide education, a place to live, food and clothes to homeless and high-risk youth. The school has been open for a few years, but they just finished building the dorm, allowing more students to come.
