Everyday in the United States 263 million pounds of food is thrown away. The USDA reports that 27% of all food produced each year never reaches a plate. Forrest Gregory, founder of the Manna Market, has been working since 2008 to change habits of big box retailers and meet the needs of his neighbors.
A Non-profit Helping Non-profits
Most non-profits exist to address a need: getting food the hungry, getting services to youth, or finding housing for the homeless are some. But, one local non-profit has the goal of simply helping other non-profits. TPC Rose organizes and hosts several public fundraisers each year that benefit a local charity.
