BLAINE, Minn. – (Oct. 27, 2016) – The Blaine Police Department is considering using body cameras for the police officers in the near future, and they are being considered by the city council as a budget item for next year. The city will hold a public hearing on November 3 as a time for public comment on the issue.
Residents will also have the option to submit a comment in writing.
If the process moves forward, the city and police department would spend time drafting a policy around the use and storage of the body camera data, and potentially have the cameras in use before the end of next year.
