BLAINE, Minn. – (April 27, 2017) – You may have noticed lots of activity at the Blaine water tower in Aquatore Park. Last October, a rehabilitation project was started to repaint the tower. Over the winter, crews were working on refurbishing the inside of the tower.
Now the work has moved to the exterior, the repainting of the exterior will happen in three phases. First, the old paint will be removed and a zinc-based primer, gray in color, will be applied. This coat is put on the same day as the old paint is removed to minimize bare metal exposure. The second coat is a buff color. This will be an intermediate coat, going on after the primer coat is done. The third and final coat is a lighter tan color that is the same color as all of Blaine’s water towers.
All painting work should be completed by the end of June.
