POLICE URGE LISTENING FOR CATALYTIC CONVERTER THIEVES

As the Minnesota Legislature works to toughen laws for thieves who target catalytic converters, it continues to be a problem in the North Metro.  In one recent two week period, the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office reports 14 stolen converters in the cities it patrols

Social media users in the North Metro continue to post complaints about the noise of high-speed racing on nearby Interstates 35E and 35W.

OWNER OF NORTHTOWN MALL IN BLAINE FILES FOR CHAPTER 11 BANKRUPTCY PROTECTION

Washington Prime Group, owners of Northtown Mall in Blaine and Maplewood Mall, has filed for Chapter 11 protection under the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, according to a company release. The company blames the COVID-19 pandemic-related economic turbulence.

The pandemic seems to be in retreat and local employers are ramping businesses back up.  But a shortage of workers is holding them back.

The three-building campus spread across 30 acres at the intersection of County Road J and Interstate 35-W will eventually comprise 320,000 square feet of commercial space that developers say will be ideal for a variety of business needs.

NEWLY VACCINATED AT LINO LAKES SITE REACT TO STATE INCENTIVES

At the former YMCA in Lino Lakes, workers have distributed more than 13,300 doses of the Pfizer vaccine since April 9. They hit that mark even though they were only open on Fridays and Saturdays.  Vaccination rates slowed down in May statewide, but many who were getting vaccinated in Lino Lakes while we were there hope those incentives will help. 

BUNKER BEACH OFFICIALLY RE-OPENS

Closed since September 2019 because of the pandemic, the 33-year-old water park underwent a $6.5 million improvement project.
