Blaine has plenty of outdoor skating options. The city has a total of 22 rinks, including nine for hockey and four warming houses. Located at various city parks they are ready for the winter season.

Giving back and holiday joy was the theme at the 15th annual Heroes and Helpers event at a Super Target store recently. Thanks to donations from the Blaine Police Department and other North Metro agencies, a group of kids went on a $200 shopping spree.

In one North Metro city a holiday vision has become reality. Steve Kavan’s newly opened Christmas tree farm recently closed and it was a successful first season.

Blaine PD and other law enforcement agencies were called to a house on Davenport Street recently after gun shots were fired. There were no injuries and there are multiple suspects in the case as police investigate exactly what happened.

Blaine HS students collected over 1100 winter coats for charity this year. Because of their desire to give back a lot of kids in the North Metro are going to benefit.

The student of the month in November succeeds in academics and athletics. Tyler Cook is a junior Centennial HS and is thriving in the classroom and in sports.

There could be some changes coming to Metro Transit’s bus routes in the future. If that happens it would affect the North Metro.

E-day has arrived and so far the much anticipated election has gone smoothly in Blaine with no real glitches at any of the city’s 26 precincts.
