Firefighters in the North Metro hope they never have to respond to a blaze, but unfortunately that’s not the case. At the SBM Fire department, crews are constantly preparing for situations that might come up.

So far it’s been almost a snow-free winter in the North Metro. But when the next storm finally does arrive, snowplow operators in Blaine have a simple message for drivers – be extra careful.

Thanks to the efforts of the Four Seasons Curling Club, the second ever Curling Day in Minnesota will have an open house at Fogarty Arena. The goal is to shine the spotlight on a growing sport.

Road salt is part of a Minnesota winter – just like cold temps, ice and snow. However, too much chloride from salt is not good for people, animals, birds, fish and area waterways. The Rice Creek Watershed District believes the time is now to reduce salt usage in the North Metro.
